Meet Penny
Straw Boss for Viva Las Jesus
Penny Conway is the Founder and President of Cowboys & Kids, a 33-year-old nonprofit dedicated to inspiring youth through Western values and faith-based outreach. The organization offers impactful programs, including the REACh Assembly, Pee-Wee Stampede, and the Cowboys & Kids Rodeo Booklet—tools that have reached over 3.5 million children nationwide.

Before launching Cowboys & Kids, Penny spent five years teaching elementary school in Payson, Arizona. A graduate of Arizona State University and Central Arizona College, she holds a B.A. in Elementary Education. She was trained to work with at-risk children and led specialized group sessions to support their growth.

A lifelong cowgirl, Penny joined the Professional Women’s Rodeo Association (PWRA) at age 12 and became the 2001 PWRA World Champion Team Roper. She competed on the National Collegiate Rodeo Team for four years and was recently honored with a WPRA gold card. Rodeo runs deep in her roots—her father, Milt Simon, rode in the very first National Finals Rodeo in 1959.

Penny is married to Bill Conway of Gila County’s historic 153-year-old cattle ranching family. Their son, Kyle, and daughter, Katy, are the sixth generation on the ranch, with several grandkids to follow, making them the seventh generation to carry on the history of Greenback Valley Ranch.

Penny is also the heart behind Viva Las Jesus, sharing the gospel at ministry events nationwide. Through several successful events held at their ranch to outreaches in bars and tent revivals in Wickenburg, Penny is not scared to go where the Lord calls her. Whether in an arena or at a pulpit, when the Lord calls, Penny answers—serving children and communities with bold faith, love, and purpose.
